Blaine Quirit

Blaine Makaha Quirit, 37, of Kailua-Kona, died Jan. 29, 2016, in Honolulu. Born in Kealakekua, he was a stone mason-rock wall laborer.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 16 at Big Island Game Fishing Club House at Honokohau Harbor for a service and celebration of life.

He is survived by father, Julian Quirit; mother, Betty Medeiros; brothers, Shane (Dayne) Quirit, Billy (Sharrie) Quirit, Damian (Erin Cabudol) Quirit; sisters, Tammy Quirit, Kim (Bobby) Quirit Macomber, Dale (Wayne) Yamashita; mother of his children, Sonya Pacatang; son, Blaison Quirit; daughters, Tiara Pacatang Quirit, Tyra Pacatang Quirit; hanai daughter, Shayla Pacatang; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Jacqueline Roberts

Jacqueline “Jackie” Hearne Roberts, 70, of Pahoa, died March 24, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born March 9, 1946, in Honolulu, she was a retired OB-GYN nurse for the Medical Center for Women in Fullerton, Calif., and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pahoa.

Private services will be held at a later date.

She is survived by daughters, Kimberly (Dallas Koons) Roberts, of Pahoa, Dierdre (Dodi Chase) Bollman, of Indiana; brothers, Bob (Tammy) Springer, of Minnesota, John (Terry) Springer, of Tennessee; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Gary Lyshol

Gary Leroy Lyshol, 67, of Kailua-Kona, died March 24, 2016, at his residence. Born Dec. 1, 1948, in Seattle, he was a home builder and retired commercial fisherman.

He is survived by companion, Liz Rychlik, of Kailua-Kona; sister, Sonja (Bill) Porter, of Freeland, Wash.; numerous hanai children, hanai grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

George Auten

George “Barry” Auten, 73, of Waikoloa died March 26, 2016, at his residence. Born Feb. 3, 1943, in Phoenix, he was a retired crew chief with Manheim Hawaii and had previously been director of sales for DMX Music and a branch manager in sales for Hughes Caliban Corporation, all in Las Vegas.

A private celebration of life will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to North Hawaii Hospice, 65-1328 Kawaihae Road, Kamuela, HI 96743.

He is survived by wife, Jane Auten, of Waikoloa; son, Ben (Elizabeth) Auten, of Las Vegas; daughter, Jordan Auten, of Los Angeles; brother, Grady (Libby) Auten, of Phoenix; stepdaughter, Crystal (Gavin) Sebastian, of Waimea; three grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

James Stutheit

James Shelley Stutheit, 88, of Ocean View died March 31, 2016. Born June 7, 1927, in Kearney, Neb., he worked as a nuclear physicist for DuPont Co.

Minnie Metzger

Minnie O. Metzger, 101, of Kailua-Kona, died April 2, 2016, at Life Care Center of Kona. Born March 13, 1915, in Maryville, Tenn., she was a retired accountant for Naval Air Station in Point Mugu, Calif. and member of Kona United Methodist Church.

Karen Snare

Karen Snare, 72, of Mountain View died March 19, 2016, at the Hospice Of Hilo Pohai Malama Facility. She was born March 9, 1944, in Pittsfield, Mass.

She is survived by spouse, Harold Snare, of Mountain View; daughters, Penny (Cameron) Fox, of Keaau, Julie (James) Garvin, of Hilo; son, Michael Hescock, of Mountain View; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Julie Iguchi

Julie Ann Iguchi, 62, of Pearl City, Oahu, died April 1, 2016, in Kealakekua. Born Nov. 15, 1953, in Honolulu, she was a supplies supervisor at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard.

She is survived by parents, Haruyoshi and Lily Iguchi, of Kailua-Kona; sisters, Jenny (Dain) Ushiroda, Patti (Mark) Aoki, all of Kealakekua; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Nestor Tejada

Nestor Gabilo Tejada, 59, of Hilo, died March 19, 2016, at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. He was born May 28, 1956, in Pangasinan, Philippines.

He is survived by mother, Felicidad Tejada, of Keaau; brothers, Alejo (Alma Yano) Tejada Jr., of Hilo, Edward (Gwen) Tejada, of Keaau; sister, Jane (Eric) Kurosawa, of Hilo; nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth Martin

Elizabeth Yok Chien Martin, 81, of Hilo, died March 29, 2016, at Pohai Malama Care Center in Hilo. Born in Kurtistown, she retired as a teacher at Pahala Elementary School, Mountain View Elementary School, Henry Opukahaia and Haumana Christian Schools and Hilo Union School. She was also a member of the Hilo United Methodist Church.

Terrence Nevin

Terrence “Terry” Gordon Nevin, 74, of Kailua-Kona, died March 25, 2016 at home. Born May 15, 1941, in San Francisco, he retired from the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope Corporation. He worked at the Mauna Kea observatory troubleshooting, programming, and doing instrument repair.

Carol Ann Hisayo Bowen, 72, of Hilo, died Feb. 20, 2016, at Hilo Medical Center. Born March 19, 1943, in Hilo, she was a retired bank teller for First International Savings and Loans and was a member of Kinoole Baptist Church.
